When I was younger I was really into Art. I drew all the time. Because my name is Jim Davis I used to pretend I drew the Garfield cartoons. People believed me too, and if they didn’t then I would draw Garfield and then they did. Unless they were an adult, because they knew that nine-year-old me was unlikely to be an international star. I took my A-Level art when I was 11 years old and failed it. But I’m telling you now, I was robbed. It was my first taste of injustice and it tasted pretty bad.
This is an unfinished painting I found from back then. I know it’s copied and unoriginal, but still. I should have passed.
However, all is well that ends well, because now the amazing Dotty Sutton does my illustrations and she is a million times better than I was ever going to be.
